With supermarkets such as NTUC FairPrice, Cold Storage, Giant and the recent Hypermart where you can find ALMOST anything, going to the wet market seems passe. However, we should be thankful because the product might be the same but the atmosphere is definitely different. Where else can you find good advice for that cut of meat or ask what other ingredients you need to buy for that important dinner tonight?
Tonight's dinner: Black vinegar pig trotters with ginger!
This is a traditional Chinese post-natal dish. It is said that the black vinegar purifies the blood, the ginger removes the excess wind (somehow I find this true) and the brown sugar used prevents dampness. Pig trotters is high in collagen which is good for the joints and the added eggs are to nourish the body on the whole. However, most of us just eat it because it is just so palatable and nourishing (especially the collagen part =D).
this is really expensive. I think S$15?
Anyway, ever since my SIP came to an end, I have been couped at home (too lazy to go out) and surviving on my infamous SALADS! As everyone knows, I am lazy and lousy photographer which is why: NO pictures or process of salad making. Anyway, too much carbs and dietary insoluble fibre is not good. Where is my PROTEIN?! Thus, I decided to make breaded chicken pieces. Firstly, finish using my bread crumbs. Secondly, easy to defrost and reheat. Thirdly, everyone just LOVE breaded chicken pieces.
Wonder what is my next challenge: asian western fusion?
